Can tho 24-26/08/2022- Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development along with International Rice Research Institute and German Agricultural Society (DLG) held Agritechnica Asia Live 2022 event with the theme “Synchronized mechanization towards sustainable agriculture”. This event is to promote the application of mechanization and digital agriculture and bring farmers a wonderful opportunity for rapid access to new and available technologies and solutions. Thus, it aims to both leverage sustainable agricultural production and introduce Vietnam’s culture/people/country to international friends. The outdoor event combined with field demonstration, exhibition and conference program received much attention almost 4,000 farmers, traders, scientists, and politicians.

Participating in Agritechnica Asia Live 2022 event with the theme “Synchronized mechanization towards sustainable agriculture”, the Cuulong Delta Rice Research Institute (CLRRI) introduced two demonstration models. The first demonstration model aims to encourage the decrease in seeding rate and the increase of used certified rice varieties in rice production through mechanical applications in land preparation, sowing, drone spraying, and harvesting in combination with the advanced rice cultivation procedure. In this model, four different sowing methods were used drum seeding, row-directed APV, clustering seeding, and mechanical transplanting with side deep fertilization. The second demonstration model is for the introduction, evaluation, and selection of promising and elite new rice varieties that could be useful in rice production structure and may contribute to increasing rice production in the Mekong River Delta region. Among 16 rice varieties that have been grown popularly in the Mekong River Delta, OM18 and OM5451 account for the high national productivity for export. On the other hand, the model also demonstrates the high quality and market-oriented rice varieties as its rice category as high quality, high quality and aromatic, high-yielding, glutinous, japonica, and micronutrient-enriched rice varieties. All rice varieties are suitable for the application of mechanization in rice production. CLRRI also joined the exhibition for rice products at Muong Thanh Hotel, Can tho city.
