BIOCONTROL DEPARTMENT 

Function:

• Research and develop biological control methods against insect pests on major crops in the South of Vietnam.
• Train researchers in short and long term.
• Collaborate with national and international organizations.

Research object: Focus on natural enemies of insect pests especially pathogenic microorganisms. 

Mandates:

• Study on biological and ecological charateristics of major insect pests e.g. rice brown planthopper, soybean bollworm, citrus psyla, cabbage diamondback moth, pineapple mealybug... and their natural enemies..
• Research and exploit biocontrol potential of beneficial organisms, especially to develop microbial formulations for insect pest management.
• Transfer technical advances in biocontrol to local organizations and famers.
• Research and develop production procedures of safe vegetables/organic vegetables and safe fruits/organic fruits in Cuulong Delta.
• Give lectures to students, scholars and train technicians, farmers on biocontrol subjects.
